    Art:
I've always loved to draw and paint and create. As a young girl, I mainly sketched and drew things that I could see, learning to love shading and relaxing in what seemed like endless time of peace and tranquility. Now this has become one of my forms of therapy for myself when my mind is filled with clutter or my emotions feel like they're controlling me. My artwork on this site is the product of just that, my emotions, my conflicts, my fears and my dreams.

    Yoga:
I signed up for a Hatha Yoga class and upon meeting my teacher and experiencing the class I felt something very deep inside me say, "One day you will teach Yoga." A beautiful and amazing experience it was, I got certified to teach Sampoorna Yoga, the Yoga of Fullness, by my teacher, Shri Yogi Hari.

    Thai Masssage:
I was working in a creative, eclectic cafe in a neighboring town and a beautiful womyn passes through talking about Thai Massage and how she is taking classes local, AND, she too is a yoga teacher. There was something in the air that day in the way she delivered this information to me, as if it was being delivered with electricity behind it. Since then I have become a Certified Thai Bodywork Professional.

Thai massage is performed fully clothed on a mat on the floor involving gentle stretching and pressure along energy lines to clear stagnation, improve range of motion, relieve pain and liberate energy. All stretching is within comfortable limits – clients do not have to be “flexible”.
Thai massage uses hands-on manipulation; the practitioner’s intention is to restore the flow of energy throughout the body. Thai massage is a deep, full-body treatment which includes both stretching of the joints and muscles and compression applied by various means to energy lines.

I have been practicing yoga for 10 years in many different forms, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow and eventually finding my home with the style of Swami Sivananda. as taught by my teacher, Sri Yogi Hari. I discovered Yogi Hari's Ashram in Miramar, Florida, where I learned to teach Sampoorna Hatha Yoga, the Yoga of Fullness based on the teachings of Swami Sivananda and re-created by my teacher, Sri Yogi Hari. My intention is to bring Yoga to everyone I can reach inspiring people to create their own at-home practice so they too can prosper from the benefits of a calm mind, body and spirit.

Private sessions available upon request. Price is negotiable depending on location.

The best way i could find to express what I experience was through images. My inspiration are Frida and Kahlo, Gaorgia O'Keefe and all artists who show themselves through their work and are some of the bravest people I know.

The story of Costa Rica. My intention in going to Costa Rica to this "Treehouse Hotel" I call it, Cascada Verde, was to scope out a place to bring my yoga students. What I found was so much more. I found community and a way of life together, a way of trading my services for the basics, food, water and shelter, and sharing my teachings of yoga, and then also an opportunity to become sustainable through thai bodywork. The experience was unlike any other. The mountains that I stayed in were beautiful with all the tropikal trees you can imagine in one place, fresh fruits, gardens of veggies, plants with edible leaves, coconuts, papayas, bananas, the good food was endless. Waking up with the scream of howler monkeys had to be the most memorable mornings for me, them and ("What is it, my fellow sistah*Monica?), the Grey-Necked Woodrail?....followed by the toucan flying by.

In August of 2008, I was blessed to find my way to an art camp in Jamaica. It was sponsored by a local Rastafari family, Viking & Stephanie Genius, who live in Treasure Beach, Jamaica. For a week, volunteers, including myself, put on an art camp at the beach for the youth. On the first day, maybe we only had 10 or 12 young brothers and sisters there, but by the time the word spread around the community, the group grew to at least 30.

  • The volunteers had our own "Mini Treehouse" and yes, we had walls to separate our rooms and no windows with glass obviously. They were more open spaces with poles of bamboo. I hung all my clothes from the ceiling which were also bamboo poles -- under a big roof, don't worry, we weren't just layin' out to be rained on) and we slept in mosquito nets on single beds. In our house we had a composting toilet and a cold shower, a full kitchen "bush style", and then we were also welcome to use the facilities of the hotel, the flushing toilets and warm showers. Our days were started off with sometimes heavy work, cleaning out a pond, digging up pipes for the water piped in from the waterfall or weeding vegetable beds when it's 90 degrees out and 90 percent humidity. (This is why work is started early because it gets HOT FAST!!!!) Some mornings work was supporting the hotel, changing sheets, sweeping the hotel and cleaning up the restaurant. After about 4 hours of work, "almuerza", LUNCHTIME! One of the things the volunteers also did was trade off fixing meals for our crew of volunteers so three meals a day divided by however many we had at the time. It was fun. We became pretty creative with your basic beans, lentils, rice and veggies. I've never made potatoes in so many ways, and I'm sorry, but everything just tastes better when you're making it outside. We had no stove or oven. We basically cooked all our meals on a double-burner. We did have refrigerator, give thanx. Keeping it clean was of the Highest Priority not just for the molding and disgusting smell but also to keep all sorts of animals out of it. Keeping our kitchen clean had the same priority, and even though I am a slob at home, I will not tolerate living with cockroaches from food being left out when it can be helped, yah know? Once our workday was over, we were free to go explore the waterfalls, trek down to the beach or just relax in hammocks and listen to the sounds of the rainforest. While I was there, I learned how to make coconut oil from a Natural*Mon and so many of my afternoons were spent shaving coconuts, which I absolutely luved and found truly meditational, not to mention it's great for the "DREADS". What was only supposed to be 3 weeks turned into 7 before I knew it and by the time 7 was up I still didn't want to leave. It was an experience like no other and I have been on the search for a while now. I felt like JAH was showing me what my spirit had always dreamed of seeing but never thought really existed, except in the quiet dark nites after all the judgment, criticism, and negativity was washed away.....yes......InI knew it was real.........it was always there. I just had to go find it! PURA VIDA, MI AMIGOS/AMIGAS QUIEN HACE COSTA RICA MUY ESPECIAL PARAMI. If you haven't tried a volunteer trip, I strongly recommend it. As I've heard, some are harder than others as far as work goes. If I made this one sound hard, it wasn't, although I absolutely luv humidity and high temperatures and working my butt off in the garden so for me it was like basking in my perfect surrounding. If you are called for this work, you will find your way to the perfect situation. Continually feeling the I*nspiration that Guides My Spirit to One*Ness........PEACE & ONE LUV......
